The Big Fire

Me and Catherine were driving up into the Santa Clarita area today when I saw the most intense horizon that I've ever seen. Half the sky was painted an eery orange-yellow and billowing, wind swept smoke covered an area so vast, that it was impossible to capture on our little Blackberry camera phone. What looked like a giant alien storm cloud was actually a 20,000 acre fire consuming the nearby mountains. The photo we took does it little justice. It honestly looked like armageddon... or some kind of biblical disaster.

My friend, a fellow lighter, James Ford lives nearby in this area. When I called him, he was in the process of packing up his wife, kids and any valuables he could grab out of his house. They were all being evacuated. He had made it to a hotel the last I heard and was safe. Events like this make my life/work worries seem so very trivial.

On that front, I should have an announcement this coming week as to where I'm going to be working next. Should be another exciting adventure. ;)
